Best Raisin Oatmeat Cookies (from Gini Fenske, Arizona, 1981)

1.2 cup butter   )
1 cup sugar      ) Cream together
Add:              1 egg
                     1 tsp vanilla extract
Sift and Add: 1/2 tsp soda
                      1/2 tsp salt
                      1-1/4 cup flour
Stir in:            3/4 cup oatmeal.
                      3/4 cup chopped raisins
                      1/2 cup chopped nuts

Form into balls, roll in granulated sugar on plate.  Flattend and bake
at 150c for 12 to 20 minutes.

(BS's notes: I use flaked almonds in place of chopped nuts, and watch
carefully so as not to burn them!)
