The Clifton Care Scheme is a simple “good neighbour” scheme using voluntary effort to provide free help to those members of our community who may need some assistance.

What kind of help?
We provide transport, mainly to doctors, dentists, hospital appointments and to local shops (we do have to make a small charge for transport to help cover expenses).

We also undertake small tasks which an able bodied householder would normally perform for themselves (for example: from fixing a dripping tap, replacing a light bulb, collecting shopping, pension and prescriptions to occasionally preparing a meal or walking a dog). We also offer companionship to those who find themselves alone and would like to chat with someone.

Who do we aim to help?
Everyone within our village community, the service is open to anyone who needs us and is not aimed at any specific group. Obviously we serve those who are disabled, infirm or suffering a loss of mobility due to advancing years, but also anyone normally able bodied who is ill, has suffered an accident or is recovering from an operation (remember even a simple sprain can cause problems if you have no-one to help).

How does it work?
A simple telephone call to 07817 614654 will be answered by a friendly coordinator
who will arrange for the problem to be dealt with by an appropriate registered volunteer. The coordinator will then phone back to confirm who will call and at what time. Even if we can’t help we will do our best to guide you to someone who can.

This service is entirely free, excepting payment for items bought on the caller’s
behalf or for the small mileage charge where transport is provided.
